Program Commitee Member Responsibilities
As a member of the program committee, your responsibilities will be to:
I. SOLICIT QUALITY PAPERS FOR SUBMISSION TO THE CONFERENCE.
At a minimum this will involve posting the Call for Papers.
PC members are encouraged to submit papers to the conference, although the General Chair and the Program Co-chairs may not. We will handle papers submitted by committee members carefully, and, to minimize conflicts of interest, we will enforce the confidentiality of reviews from other committee members.
II. PERSONALLY REVIEW SUBMISSIONS;
The FIRM due date for paper submissions is August 20, 2010. During the week immediately after this, we'll ask you to review abstracts of the papers, and declare conflicts and express interests in papers.
We will be adopting a two-phase reviewing model. This will help us reduce the total number of reviews you write and increase the percentage of papers you are involved in discussing at the PC meeting.
First phase of reviewing will be done from early September through mid October (5 weeks). The second phase will be completed by early November (3.5 weeks). It is difficult to predict exactly how many submissions we will receive, but past experience suggests that, between the two review periods, each PC member will need to review a total number of twenty to thirty papers.
Note that PC members are expected to personally read and write reviews for every paper to which they have been assigned.
III. ATTEND THE PROGRAM COMMITTEE MEETING.
The two-day program committee meeting will be held on November 12-13, 2010 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, immediately following FSE 2010. If you accept our invitation, you are committing yourself to attend this meeting. Your attendance is absolutely crucial, as our experience with other program committees has been that the opinions of absent committee members are largely ignored. Should you miss the PC meeting, we will be forced to remove you from the program committee and any advertisements listing that committee.
IV. PUBLICIZE THE CONFERENCE
PC members are expected to help publicize the conference by performing the following tasks:
- Forward the electronic version of the ICSE 2011 URL, the Call for Papers, and the Preliminary Program to as many people as possible
- Actively recruit attendees
V. ATTEND THE CONFERENCE
The ICSE 2011 conference will be held the week of May 21-28, 2011, in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii. PC members are expected to attend the conference and possibly chair a session (paper, panel, keynote, tutorial, etc.).
