plate lunch - Diamond Head Market

Aloha! Plate lunch is an island staple. Diamond Head Market is a drive-in and a small market with prepared foods. Their desserts are wicked. I had a Chocoalte Haupia cake, Strawberry short cake, macadaemia nut brownie and the chocolate macaroon bar. It was kind of embarassing when it came to paying.

Next door at the drive-in they have the usual Hawaiian entrees, teryaki chicken, beef, grilled rib eye sandwich, etc. My favorire is the cha siu chicken. They take dark meat chickien and marinate it in the cha siu spices and sause and then they grill it. I never had fresh hot cha siu before I found this place. Food is great here!

Getting here is harder. You need a car or bus but it is worth the trip. We have gone here 4 times this trip. On my way home I am stopping by here to get musubi rice cakes to eat on the plane.
